it is a beautiful day in perth

we walked the dogs along the beach this morning

white sand and turquoise clear water as far as the horizon and over

too nice to be inside!

so i will leave you with this week's project

some more lavender sachets

these are the easiest things in the world to make and embroider

and make the linen cupboard smell so sweet

the one on the left accidentally went through the wash

(oops)

it seems to have survived, albeit at a slightly darker shade, but i quite like its new colour

...

how about you? how's the weather where you are?

any creative projects this week?

this week

this new vietnamese purse has kept me ever so cheerful

with its beautiful embroidery

and funny little pompoms

and a teeny tiny buddha

re-discovered from a long ago holiday

bringing a little serenity to my day

it has been a busy week chez bloom

and i am very glad it's over

but there has been enough energy (just) for watching dr who on iview in the evenings

(i may or may not have become a little addicted...)

and stitching this scarf

the patterned material comes from an old sundress

that i cut the bottom off to make a wide loop for a scarf

the material was a bit too soft to sit properly as a scarf though

so i'm stitching a backing to it, a little like a kantha

i am amazed at how fine and regular kantha stitching is

a lot harder than it looks!

hope you've had a lovely week?

what's been happening at your place?

this week was rainy and grey

we made pumpkin soup and english muffins for tea

and watched doctor who on the ipad in bed

and i made a swishy navy blue corduroy skirt

for wearing with stockings and boots and scarves and cardigans

all my favourite things in one outfit

corduroy is one of the best things about winter

a mon avis

how about you?

mrs woo

high tea with mrs woo is the loveliest store in sydney

so it shouldn't be surprising that one of the women behind the store, juliana foong, lives in such a beautiful space

the light just blows me away

i find myself craving light spaces lately

i think it comes from living in such a shady house for the last six months

     (shady in a good way...)

over the last week i've been setting up a herb garden

it's been so satisfying

we have thyme, and sage, mint, coriander

lemon balm, rosemary, chives

nasturtiums, basil, lettuce and lavender

life feels better with herbs in the garden

(or in pots, in my case, carefully placed above curious-dog-nose-height)

it's taken me this long since the move to have the headspace to plant herbs

we couldn't take any plants with us from sydney

perth has funny quarantine rules

but it's definitely been worth the wait!

plus, it hasn't stopped raining since i put them in

hello perth winter rains, we've been waiting for you!

hope you've had a lovely week?

xx
